Monkey Island is a classic franchise full of color. As a team we looked at concept art from Disney and the original games for inspiration. Working on this title I was able to experiment with color and lighting. This helped me understand how important the two elements are when adding mood and artistic style to a cinematic experience.
For the jungle I put together the environment and finalized the layout. These jungle tiles could be randomized for the player to explore. Some of the assets were outsourced that I cleaned up and polished. I also created new assets and textures. The sky was created by an illustrator and Guybrush by a character artist. I completed the final polish and lit the environment.
I modeled and textured all the props showcased on this page. It was a blast being able to create the iconic talking skull named Murray!
